World simply has changed in front of our eyes in a matter of days. Sitting in Houston, the energy capital of the world, space city of USA with the largest medical complex in the world, we see the growth of a global epidemic.
The most developed nation in the world who put man on the
moon, the home of NASA or designed electric bulb or computers is powerless. Over the last few months, that crisis has
completely engulfed the world – as of September 5th, US is closing
in on 200 thousand deaths, globally 900 thousand deaths.
As a virulent disease impacts the whole world, as humans
suffer in this world of digitalization and space travel, where we thought world
is literally in people’s hands, it is time to retrospect. We now need a new
world of digitalization and divinity, a world where we strive to connect people
online and also, build bridges with nature.
We must protect the environment, let nature flourish in its
pristine abandon and let us enjoy the pure beautiful earth, coexisting with
animals and plants and not fighting deadly virus. With less traffic, we are
seeing bluer skies, whales and dolphins are returning to waters near cities and
Himalayas are visible from far away. A cleaner environment, a bluer sky, a
purer water will protect us from these deadly diseases, be it Coronavirus or
Ebola.
It is time to understand that we humans or our creation –
computer, do not control the world. There is a greater calling and we must pull
together as humans and learn to live with compassion, caring about our fellow
humans and nature. We still must pursue advancement in technology and living
standard but not at the cost of compassion or humanity. We must pursue medical
science to heal people and not to destroy civilization. We can overcome and
welcome a brighter tomorrow.
Distancing makes us go Digital!
World will change. In the new world, we have to increasingly
use digital methods from shopping to entertainment to working. Technology
companies are upping the dame to transform digitally. Doctors will use telemedicine
to consult patients. Sophisticated nano technology tools can even help with
surgery with AI-driven robots. Hospitality can use these robots to serve
customers. In short, a transformation of how we live work, entertain will
change drastically. Digital transformation does not mean loss of jobs but
reskilling and replacement jobs.
Virus wakes us up to a new humane world
Our ancient scriptures enunciate the prayers for hope and
healing, nature coexisting with humans so well. It is particularly relevant as
the word suffers under a devastating virus and looks for ways to get to a bright
future.

May the Divine protect everyone. Let us be nourished and protected. May
we work together with great energy. May our studies be effective. May we never
hate or fight one another. Om Peace, Peace, Peace.
Let’s not be divided, let us care for our fellow humans. Let
us embrace nature; let us pursue technology for greater amenities and medical
science to find a cure and vaccine and not to create a dangerous virus. Let’s
refocus our priorities.
May we, get back to our beautiful earth soon. May we
celebrate the victory of human spirit across the world, from our adopted
homeland in America to our motherland India and our beloved City of Joy,
Kolkata.
